Starting therapy often brings up practical and personal questions. Below are some of the ones I’m most frequently asked.
before you start
I can’t draw. Is this for me?
Yes. Artistic skill is not required. A simple mark, tear, or shape can often express more than carefully chosen words.
Is this an art class or a creative workshop?
No. Art psychotherapy focuses on the inner process, not on creating something aesthetically pleasing. We are not here to make art objects, but to explore experience.
Do we make art in every session?
Not necessarily. Some sessions involve more conversation, others more art-making. The process adapts to what you need that day.
working together
Who do you work with?
I work with adults, children, and adolescents. Because I work in English and Turkish, I often support people living abroad or navigating life in a new country.
How do sessions work with children?
Sessions with children are adapted to their developmental stage. Parents are included in the process when appropriate.
practicalities
Do I need to buy materials?
All materials are provided for in-person sessions. For online work, simple materials you already have at home are enough.
What if I don’t know what to bring to a session?
That’s completely fine. We begin with what feels present that day—there is no preparation required.
How often do we meet?
Sessions are usually held once a week to provide continuity and depth.
How long does therapy usually last?
Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs and goals. We review the process together as it unfolds.
What languages do you work in?
English and Turkish.
still unsure?
